Suryakumar sends Rohit Sharma a message titled: Beginning on Friday, November 8, Suryakumar Yadav, 25, will serve as captain of India during the forthcoming four-match twenty-20 International series versus South Africa. Following losing to the Kiwis 0–3 in a three-match Test match at home, India will also be seeking a win.
Suryakumar, who made just one appearance in India under this format, was not included in the squad for the three-match Test series against New Zealand.

Ahead of the South Africa series, Suryakumar expressed his desire to return to Test cricket and disclosed that he was taking part in all domestic red-ball and white-ball competitions.
“I’ll return to the Test when the time is right. I participate in both red-ball and white-ball domestic tournaments. No games are missed by me. “A Test comeback will occur if it is intended to,” he stated.

In 2023, he contested his only Test game against the nation of Australia, collecting eight runs during his lone innings. He was chosen as a reserve player for the WTC final the same year. “Whether Rohit is performing well or not, his character remains unchanged,” he added in reference to Rohit’s recent form. I think every athlete should possess that trait.
In his 84 first-class looks, Suryakumar has scored 5656 runs at a rate of 42.84, 14 tons, and 29 half-century scores in 140 innings, with a best total of 200.
In the 2014–15 Ranji Trophy season, Suryakumar was briefly led the Mumbai team as captain before replacing him halfway through the season. In 10 tournament matches, he scored 690 runs. He was also part of the Mumbai team that brought home the Ranji Trophy in 2015–16.
With 788 runs and three tons, including a 115-run knock in the second inning of the semi-final match versus Madhya Pradesh, he was in the top five run scorers of the season. He also made it for the Ranji final in 2016–17, however Mumbai lost toward Gujarat.
