Stokes Predicts Spin Advantage for England

Stokes Predicts Spin Advantage for England: Ben Stokes, the skipper of England, thinks that they will have an advantage if they take a similar number of wickets as in the initial match before the second Test match against Pakistan. The same field which saw England defeat Pakistan by an entire innings and 47 runs in the first Test game last week will host the following Test in Multan. Due to an injury to his hamstring, Stokes failed to play in the game; Ollie Pope assumed his place as captain.

Stokes, who is back in the starting lineup, stated, “If you look at how the first Test played out, if another wicket like that was produced, maybe that gives us more of an advantage.”

England made two lineup changes: spinners Jack Leach and Shoaib Bashir remained in their positions, while pacers Gus Atkinson and Chris Woakes were omitted to make room for Matthew Potts and Stokes.

The all-rounder stated that if it spins more or reverses more, both teams will have more alternatives. “You’d like to think it might be a bit more in favor of the spin,” he remarked.

For the other Test matches in the series, however, Pakistan eliminated top pacers Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah in addition to former captain Babar Azam. Stokes responded to that by saying, “Everything on that.” That is the problem with cricket in Pakistan. Not related to me.

Stokes expressed amazement at Pakistan’s decision to utilize the surface. “I’ve never seen a pitch used in consecutive games before, but that might be a technique. In reference to the two large industrial fans used to dry the field at either end, he remarked, “And I’ve never seen fans that big standing as umpires.”

“I believe that if we were behind 1-0 at home, we would most likely ask our groundskeeper for the second Test, ‘Can we have a bit more of this, bit more of that?’ to make the most of our home advantage. We both think that there should be a winner in cricket, with me serving as captain and Baz as coach,” Stokes continued.
