Premier League 2024–25: Liverpool faces tougher tests, but Slot is satisfied with his record start

Liverpool faces tougher tests

Liverpool faces tougher tests: Being Liverpool’s captain, Arne Slots has overseen nine victories in his first ten games throughout all competitions, representing the best start for any manager in their history.

After a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday, Arne Slot allowed himself to laugh at his unparalleled start to life at Liverpool. However, he maintains that it is much too early for any judgments on his tenure.

Football Dutchman’s record as Liverpool’s head coach was the best in the club’s history, after leading the squad to nine wins in their initial 10 matches in all competitions.

However, Slot, who succeeded Jurgen Klopp at the end of the previous campaign, reiterated that decisions about his Liverpool team will have to wait.

When asked about his record start, Slot responded, “It’s actually also quite special if you know – and you know – how many great managers Liverpool had.” Slot also told reporters that it was fulfilling.

“I also mentioned last week that I hope they remember me for more than just this in one, two, three, four, or five years,” he continued.

“We want to achieve even greater things than this, and it also speaks to my good fortune to have inherited a strong team and staff to help us maintain the success Jurgen enjoyed here as well.”

With its thrilling victory on Sunday, the Reds won the English championship heading into the national break.

Liverpool have enjoyed a very easy calendar thus far, but following the break they will face tougher opponents at home versus Chelsea and away at RB Leipzig and Gunners.

Alisson, whom Slot referred to as “the greatest goalkeeper in the the world,” was taken out late in the third quarter due to what’s appeared to be a hamstring injury, so they might have to make do minus him.

Reporters were informed by Slot that: “We have to wait and see. If a player walks off like he does, that normally means he’s not in the Brazil squad. I don’t expect him to be in the team in the first game we play afterwards.”

However, Slot continued, the play of Vitezslav Jaros, who was making his debut while sitting out due to illness, was encouraging.

The fact that even our third goalie can affect our outcomes, he remarked, was quite satisfying to observe.
