PCB Challenges India: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has responded to a letter from the International Cricket Council (ICC) on India’s refusal to visit Pakistan for the 2025 ODI Champions Trophy, asking for further information.
A PCB spokeswoman stated, “The PCB has replied to the ICC letter from last week asking for explanations for the BCCI’s decision to skip the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 trip to Pakistan.”
The PCB, as is understood, wants India to give more information so they can further contest the issue, even though the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) has cited security concerns. While neither the ICC nor the BCCI have released any public statements, it is generally accepted within the group the BCCI will not alter its stance. The PCB could decide to host the event if agreeing to a hybrid arrangement in which India plays its matches at an impartial site (the UAE is the front-runner) and the remaining matches are played in Pakistan.
PCB Challenges India’s Refusal to Tour Pakistan for 2025 Champions Trophy:
According to Pakistani media sources, PCB is thinking of adopting a tough stance and withdrawing from the competition. However, among BCCI circles, that is viewed as nothing more than public posturing. One of the backup plans before ICC is to exclude Pakistan from the tournament entirely if PCB plays hardball.
The Indian men’s team has not visited Pakistan before the 2008 Asia Cup due to an erosion in diplomatic ties among the two nations.
The Ministry of External Affairs has yet to give the Cricket Association of the Blind in India (CABI) permission to compete in the T20 World Cup for the Blind, which will begin with Pakistan on the 22nd of November. After receiving a NOC with the union Sports Department on November 4, the Indian team was made public.
