New Zealand Crush India by 58 Runs: India’s opening World T20 Cup match against New Zealand ended in a 58-run loss, therefore eliminating them from the competition.
Given their dismal run of 10 straight losses going into the game, New Zealand wasn’t considered favorites in their Women’s T20 World Cup opening on Friday in Dubai, despite their commanding 9-4 record versus India in T20Is. But after crushing title rival India by 58 runs, the Sophie Devine-led team stopped their run. While the win gave New Zealand some much-needed relief in the death group, it put India’s chances of making the semifinals in jeopardy.
New Zealand Crush India by 58 Runs, Leaving T20 World Cup:
The Indian cricket women’s team, led by skipper Harmanpreet Kaur has been praised as the best T20I team. She voiced confidence in the squad’s capacity to overcome the nation’s long-standing world title drought. But India did not show up for the match, either with the ball or the bat.
After deciding to bat first in Dubai, New Zealand was right on target from the first ball. The team started the slog overs with an aggressive knock from the openers, but captain Devine carried the pace with an undefeated fifty-seven, helping New Zealand set a goal of 161 runs.
Then, with none of the batters striking, the Indian batting lineup appeared helpless against the New Zealand onslaught, and the Women in Blue just about managed to score 100 runs. With one over remaining, they were eventually folded for just 102 as the White Ferns defeated India by a commanding 58 runs.
New Zealand’s bowling unit, led by Lea Tahuhu and Melie Kerr, is versatile. Can they handle India’s powerful batting lineup? 🎯

India was virtually eliminated
On the female version of the T20 World Cup, India ended up in the group of death with the reigning Asian champions Sri Lanka, Pakistan, New Zealand, & Australia, which are the defending champions. Australia and New Zealand were India’s only real threats, but they will fancy having a shot against Pakistan, who they have only lost to multiple times in T20 World Cup history (also known as the last being in 2016) and against three times overall in fifteen encounters. Sri Lanka, in the other hand, lost to them in the women’s Asia Cup final in the month of July and have only lost once in the history of the World Cup.
India tried their luck in the World Cup, knowing that New Zealand was coming off a bad run of results, but they were outplayed in every area and ultimately lost badly. Therefore, the only thing separating India from a semifinal qualification spot is Australia if they are successful in defeating Pakistan and Sri Lanka in their Group A matches. Only twice in six T20 World Cup encounters and seven times in 33 T20I games have India defeated Australia.
What is required of Harmanpreet Kaur and associates?
In addition to losing badly to Pakistan and Sri Lanka, India will also face the reigning champions, whom they last defeated in a T20 World Cup match in 2020, with their net run rate currently standing at -2.632 following the defeat to New Zealand.
