Manchester United: In the Europa League, Manchester United lost a two-goal lead and had to settle for a 3-3 draw with Porto. Harry Maguire’s dramatic heroics kept the team from losing, but condemnation of their play is still mounting.

On October 4, Manchester United’s poor performance continued as they lost a two-goal lead and ended up drawing 3–3 with Porto in their Europa League match. Rasmus Højlund gave United the lead in the seventh minute, and Marcus Rashford added another in the twentieth, as the team got off to a great start. But they found it difficult to keep their cool, which let Porto get back into the game.

Following losing 3-0 at home must Premier League opponents Tottenham Hotspur manager Erik ten Hag was under increasing pressure for a victory in this European match. Regretfully, the way United performed in the draw simply served to exacerbate the scorn that the team is receiving lately.

Manchester United’s misfortunes persist despite escaping the Europa League:

Just a few days after his ban from the Tottenham match was overturned, captain Bruno Fernandes was given a second yellow card, further compounding United’s problems as they were reduced to 10 men once more. United’s defensive mistakes were soon exploited by Porto, as veteran defender Pepe scored in the 27th minute. Porto took the lead thanks to two goals from Samu Omorodion, one in the 34th minute and the other shortly after the interval in the 50th.

Harry Maguire’s header in stoppage time helped United salvage a draw despite their difficulties. His late equalizer saved them from the humiliation of consecutive losses, but it was insufficient to allay growing worries about the team’s play.

This recent result makes it a pair of losses in two European League matches for Ten Hag’s United, who are currently under greater scrutiny in order to turn their season around. The team has a difficult start to the campaign and will only face more pressure as they try to find consistency and win.
